CPS and the Comets Alumni Association extend our sincerest condolences to the following alumni and families:

De La Cruz - Vicens Family on the passing on September 23, 2008 of dear grandma Betty (Betty Ziegler de la Cruz),  a 40 year faithful employee of our school. Our sincerest and deepest condolences on the loss of a truly remarkable "COMET".

• Mayda Baranda’s, class of 1993, survived by husband Rafael, their three children, and siblings Gabriel Baranda, 1995,  and Karina Baranda, 1999.  
• Sally Ann Goss, Class of 1997 
•  Carlos M. Vélez-Munich, M.D., Class of 1977, on the loss of his beloved father Manuel Vélez.   
•  Linda Winston, class of 1973 - on the loss on May 1, 2008 of her beloved husband Robert Solomon, a neurologist at the Community Hospital in Willamsburg for 20 years. He died from metastatic melanoma.  
• Chuck Lawson, beloved father-in-law of Jody Nugent - Lawson, class of 1971,who passed away on June 8, 2008 in New Hampshire.
•  Patricia Zoffinger, CPS parentt and volunteer, and the beloved mother of Tom Zoffinger ’75, Bill Zoffinger ’71, James Zoffinger ’72 and Judy Baker. 
• Danny Strauss ’81, the loving brother of of David Straus ’74 and Leslie Strauss ’77. 
• Barbara Oxman, the boloved mother of Andrew Oxman ’82 and Eleanor (Elly) Oxman ’86.
• Gilbert Palmer, the loving father of Steve Palmer Note: Nancy Diamond wrote:
  I am sad to inform you of the passing of Gil Palmer, father of one of Commonwealths alumni, Steve Palmer. If any of you had visited the Palmer residence and met Gil, you know how special a person he was. Steve spent a few years, early 70's, at Commonwealth. The Class of 2006, faculty, parents, and others gathered at the Commonwealth Campus after hearing of Donny's tragic accident to express their grief. They all came together in a moment of silence and prepared ribbons for Donny. They were also joined by Headmaster - Mr. Marracino, who requested that all school flags be flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning.

The Comets Alumni Association laments the loss of this promising young man and expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Fucile – Rojas Family. May you find solace in knowing that all the love and effort you invested in your son have engendered beautiful memories for all to cherish.
