Lisa Martinez,'02 off to Yale to Pursue Master's in Public Health

Lisa Martinez, class of 2002 – has just been awarded a full scholarship to Yale's School of

Epidemiology and Public Health. She will pursue a Master's in Public Health specializing in Chronic

Disease Epidemiology and Health Promotion. The fact that she was one of 5 such awards is

noteworthy. Since graduating from Commonwealth she went to Harvard and obtained a B.A. in

Biological Anthropology, completed a pre-medical course of study, and certificate of fluency in

Italian. She also worked as editor of a campus publication and as a research assistant at the Harvard

School of Public Health and played softball! This summer she will in Buenos Aires, Argentina, interning

with an affiliate of Planned Parenthood to work on a sexual health education Campaign targeting

migrant working women in the city.
